The cumulative number of hours of instruction for pupils from 7 to 14 years in public schools:
France is one, with the Netherlands, Australia, Italy, countries where the cumulative number of hours of instruction is higher (7368 hours against 6657 hours to the OECD average).
The Scandinavian countries are those where the duration is the smallest (less than 6000 hours), with Germany in a very close to that of these countries .
The number of teaching hours
The number of hours of instruction delivered by teachers is also very variable. A primary school teacher in France provides more teaching hours than the average OECD or the European Union (910 against 812 or 806).
